Well, it looks like the WordPress folks have opted to skip version 2.4, and head straight into 2.5. Apparently the large number of changes to be made, combined with the busy holiday schedule prompted them to make the decision to cut version 2.4, previously promised to us on January 24.
I can understand them wanting to push back the release date as to not rush things, but I’m not quite sure why they felt the need to skip version numbers. Since this is the next “major” release, doesn’t it make sense that it would use the next version number (2.4)? Anyways, the moral of the story is that we are now going to have to wait until March for the next major WordPress release. I’ve been able to check out a few previews of what they have in store for us in this next version, and from what I’ve seen so far, it will definitely be worth the wait.
This only concerns those running WordPress from their hard drive, right?
